The Division is seeking expressions of interest from practices who are willing to participate in the Australian Better Health Initiative (ABHI) Clinical and Service Delivery Pathways Project. In late July 2008, the Division conducted chronic disease Focus Groups to find out how services are delivered on the Gold Coast.

A letter was sent to Professor Michael Ward at HQCC stressing some concerns which were highlighted by the GCDGP membership.

NEW NAMES & NEW BEGINNINGS: At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2007, I flagged the idea of a potential change of name for our organisation in 2008. I highlighted the history behind the use of the word division in our organisational title (akin to a division of surgery in a hospital). I also pointed out the irony that an organisation attempting to represent and unite many people in general practice calls itself a ‘Division’. A number of other Divisions have reached a similar conclusion-including our national and state offices (now called Australian General Practice Network and General Practice Queensland – not a Division in sight).
